US ACE - Administration Building and Parking Structure, Detroit Arsenal
Warren, Michigan

Granger Construction was selected by the US Army Corps of Engineers to design and construct the Administration Building and Parking Structure Project at the Detroit Arsenal (TACOM) located in Warren, Michigan. The Parking Structure was turned over in November 2010 and the Administration Building was completed in January 2011, both months earlier than the contractual date in late March 2011.

Utilizing a fast-track, phased Design-Build approach, an approximately 227,000 SF Administrative Facility was constructed to house 1,100 office personnel. The building includes a walkway connection to a neighboring building and employs Energy Management Controls.

The Administrative Building and other components of the Detroit Arsenal are supported by an approximately 583,500 SF Parking Structure which provides spaces for approximately 1,800 privately owned and government vehicles.

Extensive site up-grades and utilities were necessary to service these new buildings as well as other under construction and future BRAC buildings at this site. Also, several temporary parking lots replaced the existing parking lots to accommodate the new construction, and Pershing and Eisenhower Drives were widened.

Granger selected Neumann Smith Architecture as the lead Designer/Architect for the Administration Building and Carl Walker Parking as lead Designer/Engineer for the Parking Structure.

Although only required to achieve LEED Silver Certification, the entire Design and Construction Team worked diligently to go above and beyond and achieved LEED Gold Certification at no additional cost to the US Army Corps of Engineers.
