Holocaust Memorial Center Farmington Hills, Michigan Granger Construction considers all projects special. This one was
exceptionally special. This new Memorial Center represented 46,000 SF
of new construction and the renovation of 13,300 SF of space which once hosted a three-screen multiplex cinema. Because of all of the symbolism incorporated into the design, there are very few straight line features in the building which made construction very challenging.
Adding to the challenge was the fact that it was built on a very tight
sight, directly adjacent to one of the area's busiest four-lane roads.
Despite all of the challenges, this award-winning project was completed
on schedule and under budget. In addition to sections focusing on
European Jewish Heritage, the Holocaust, and the International
Institute of the Righteous, the building also features a comprehensive
research library (60,000 volumes), a large lecture room, a gift shop,
docent welcome and break areas, and extensive administrative office
space.
