Granger Construction has been the trusted Construction Manager for Sparrow Health System on many projects with the latest being the 450,000 SF, approximately $150 million, eleven-story West Wing Tower, supported by a new Central Utility Plant which provides emergency power back-up, steam, chilled water, and other essential services.
This multi-phased addition provided the following new spaces within the Tower: six Operating Rooms initially (22 when ultimately built out), separate adult and pediatric Emergency Departments with a total of 75 treatment bays, a 34 bed ICU/CCU Department, a 43,000 SF Heart Center with state-of-the-art equipment, 58 private Medical/Surgical Patient Rooms (each with 1000 lb. bariatric lifts), a Data Center and a roof-top helipad capable of handling a Blackhawk helicopter.
The adjacent six (6) level patient/visitor parking ramp, completed in 2003, provided an additional 1,200 parking spaces with protection from rain and snow, as well as a protected entranceway into the hospital.
Finally, the expansion included the creation of a new, easy-to-access formal entrance to the hospital.
