WMU | Health & Human Services Building Kalamazoo, Michigan
The College of Health and Human Services is two buildings connected by
a 4 story atrium. The laboratory building is a rectangle shape which
houses classrooms and labs. The office building is radiused shaped and
houses the offices and conference rooms. The lab building is structural
steel with a brick | stone exterior. The atrium is also enclosed with a
curtainwall. The basement of the lab building is where all the HVAC
equipment is housed for both buildings. Also included in the project is
a Central Service Building where the Chillers are located. The Central
Service Building is located about 100 feet west of the lab building.
The lab building exterior is a mix of brick and Mankato stone and the radius building is a curtainwall from the ground to the roof. The radius building is 490 feet long, 30 feet wide and is connected to the lab building by the curtainwall enclosed atrium. The atrium includes a garden and shallow decorative pool. The atrium is open to all floors from ground to roof.
