National Safety Stand-Down Week is May 8-12. This week, employers are encouraged to hold a stand-down by taking a break to talk to workers about fall hazards and fall protection. More than one-third of deaths in the construction industry are due to falls. As the National Occupational Safety and Health Administration points out, these deaths are preventable.
“In the last five years, I have conducted 30 surveys on eight major construction projects ranging from $5 million to over $1.5 billion. Scores reflecting the overall health of the partnership on the Detroit Arsenal project were the highest on any that I have recorded.”
