In the fall of 1995, Genesee County awarded Granger Construction the new Genesee County Jail project. Granger provided General Contracting and Value Engineering services for this 181,000 SF, 398 bed facility.
The County also found it expedient to have Granger perform needed renovations to its courthouse at the same time. Granger also installed a complex building security control system within the courthouse.
During these projects, out team build an underground tunnel connecting the new jail facility to the adjacent courthouse.
At the start of these projects, Granger’s team faced difficulties with site logistics and staging. We were also tasked with completing all renovation work at the courthouse while it remained occupied. Our team needed to be extremely diligent with planning and communicating site logistics, scheduling and safety measures on this project to ensure minimal disruption to staff and administrators.
