Already equipped with spacious hallways and open dining and activity areas, the Ingham County Medical Care Facility Board saw a need to add even more open activity and visitation space in the form of four day-room additions. This addition and renovation project was performed by Granger Construction Company. These 1,200 SF areas provide a quiet personal space for family visitation, small group activities and in one wing a dementia and Alzheimer's care area. Portions of the existing facility are upgraded with a focus on improving the HVAC performance in the building, as well as improving air quality, existing boilers, heat pumps, chillers and other mechanical equipment were replaced in the facility as it was occupied. The aging glass skylight at the center atrium was replaced with a modern translucent panel system that improves heat retention in the winter and cuts cooling costs in the summer. Patient rooms received modest upgrades in finishes as well as new lighting.
