The new justice center houses a new full-service jail along with a Sheriff’s Office, dispatch center and Prosecutor’s offices. The project included construction of a new 126-bed jail facility to help alleviate overcrowding and rectify deteriorating and unsafe conditions at the old jail which was built in 1973 and only rated to hold 15 inmates.

The new jail offers separate wings for men and women, with areas for minimum, medium and maximum security units. Other key features of the jail include space for rehabilitation programming, especially for those incarcerated with mental illness and drug or alcohol addiction.

The jail portion was constructed with room to add on new housing pods to provide up to 100 additional beds. This facility also houses the Sheriff’s office and dispatch center as well as Prosecutor’s offices.
