Gallia County partnered with DLZ and Granger Construction to construct a new adult detention facility in Gallipolis, Ohio.

The new two-story facility was built in the parking lot of the existing courthouse. This location was selected over other options due to utilities being available, making the new facility more cost efficient and more convenient for inmates to be transported between the jail and courthouse.

The new facility replaced an outdated structure, increasing bed capacity from 22 to 72 beds, with an option to expand to 120 beds.

Features include a state-of-the-art security electronics and detention systems as well as video visitation stations, food service and medical areas. The office area and detention facility are connected by a common sally port area.

Granger and DLZ worked through many different budgets and cost estimates which led to design changes for the facility to right-size the project to the County’s budget.
