Granger Construction was selected to renovate Grand Valley State University’s student center, creating a welcoming environment for students, families and staff, guiding visitors through a multi-modal admissions and student services experience.
Renovation Highlights
- New interior walls
- Reconfigured layouts
- Refreshed ceilings
- New paint
- Updated fixtures
- Custom wood veneer wall finishes
New Spaces
The project introduced several new spaces designed to enhance both functionality and the visitor experience, including:
- A kitchenette
- Dedicated one-on-one meeting areas
- A flexible conference room for presentations and group meetings
The renovated spaces provide a technologically advanced environment that reflects the distinctive GVSU experience. Enhancements include digital kiosks, dynamic wayfinding systems and an interactive Laker Experience Suite that streamlines administrative processes for students. These upgrades integrate with the university’s campus network, providing instant access to records and supporting electronic queuing and real-time information displays.
Because the building remained occupied throughout construction, much of the work was completed before 8 a.m. or after normal business hours to minimize disruptions, maintain safety and reduce noise concerns.
One of the project’s signature features is a multi-dimensional wall system with carved and textured surfaces incorporated into the concierge desk and presentation spaces, creating a distinctive architectural focal point.
