Greene County Gene Fisher Correctional Center

Greene County

Granger teamed up with Danis Construction out of Dayton, OH to construct this new 386-bed jail and sheriff’s office.

This new facility represents a major investment by Greene County in safety, wellness and modern correctional services. Named in memory of Sheriff Gene Fischer, whose advocacy and decades of service helped pave the way for this project, the new center reflects the county’s commitment to its residents, staff and future needs. This space enabled the Sheriff’s Office to combine the employee and inmate populations of the two former facilities into one modern combined facility. This allowed for the permanent closure of the 54-year-old downtown jail that has been in need of an update since 1989.

The new Correctional Center provides:

  • Necessary housing for the separation of males and females into classifications for minimum, medium and maximum security
  • Separate areas for medical and mental health treatment services
  • Flexible programming space enabling on-site treatment, rehabilitation, and various training that can help prepare individuals for their reentry into the community
  • The safe and efficient movement of both inmates and law enforcement into and from the facility
  • One roof for three separate administrative branches of the Sheriff’s Office personnel
  • Administrative offices for the County Coroner and staff
