A new 60-bed jail was constructed as an addition to an existing building on the property of a former U.S. Army Reserve faculty. The existing building was renovated to house the new sheriff’s office.
The new jail facility allows the county to house its own inmates, rather than paying to transport and house them in other facilities outside of the county.
Project Features:
- 6 different housing units, 4 with cells and 2 as dorms
- 8 single cells, 12 dual occupancy cells that can also be used as single cell, and 40 dorm style beds
- 2 classrooms, outdoor recreation and 2 counseling offices adjacent to the housing units
- Full-service kitchen, laundry and other support areas
- 2 car sallyport adjacent to intake area with holding cells, officer work area, booking, inmate processing, shower, property storage and
clothing issue - A medical area, medical office, exam room, storage, locked medication and medical isolation cell located adjacent to the intake area
- Video visitation unit in each housing area
