Ingham County in Michigan partnered with BKV Group, Granger Construction and Kramer Management Group to construct the new Ingham County Justice Complex, a combined campus housing a correctional facility, Sheriff’s Office and the 55th District Court. All work took place on the same campus and directly adjacent to the existing courthouse and jail/Sheriff’s Office facilities. This project also included demolishing the existing facilities.

Project Features

  • Correctional Center – The new correctional center has capacity for 418 beds, including 55 special high observation and mental health beds. The facility contains an Intake Center with vehicle sally port, inmate property and a separate release area. The central also includes a Special Medical / Mental Health Clinic as well as a Kitchen, Laundry and Loading Area.
  • Sheriff’s Office – The new Sheriff’s Office includes spaces for the Records Division, Investigations Bureau, Field Services, Administration, Emergency Management and a Training Center. Additional support spaces include Locker Rooms, Roll Call, Micro-Kitchen, Mother’s Room, Quiet Room, Quartermaster Storage, Evidence Storage and a Fitness Room. A separate out-building includes a 2 Bay Vehicle Maintenance Shop, 1 Bay Vehicle Evidence Bay, Marine Unit Boats and Lockers, Emergency Management Vehicles and 25-yard Firing Range.
  • Courthouse – Two high-tech District Courtrooms and a Magistrate Courtroom with sound lock vestibules flanked by attorney / client conference rooms are located in this new facility. The space includes a security entrance with scanning and separate court holding area directly accessible to both courtrooms, Magistrate’s Courtroom and Probation. There are also spaces for Chambers, a Library, Judicial Assistants and Jury Deliberation Room.
