This three-story recreation and wellness center is the first new rec building on MSU’s campus since the 1970s, and replaced the Intramural Recreative Sports West building with a modern structure and facilities that addresses student recreation and fitness needs.
The facility includes:
- Several gymnasiums and multi-activity courts
- A turf arena.
- An indoor running track
- Strength and fitness studio
- 6 multi-purpose fitness spaces
- A 3-story climbing wall
- Golf simulators
- Table tennis
- Two university classrooms
- A wellness suite providing students services to assist them in taking care of their body and mental health
- Locker and toilet rooms
It also features a 50-meter recreational pool that can support simultaneous uses, including courses, water fitness, open swim and future athletic programs.
Sustainable practices include reduced energy loads, water conservation measures, carbon emission reductions, and passive design strategies.
This project is part of an initiative by the MSU Board of Trustees to improve the campus community and will help ensure students and staff/employees have access to the wellness tools they need to improve their overall physical and mental well-being.
