This project involved a new 23,000 SF, state-of-the-art facility that replaces the older, outdated structure. The new building is about 3 times larger than the original shelter. The project is majority funded by a millage, passed during the 2018 election.
The new structure houses kennels, feeding areas, laundry facilities, offices
and support spaces in addition to state-of-the-art features including an on-site
veterinary clinic and innovative ventilation system to help maintain a sterile
environment. These specially designed features enhance safety for staff
as well as animals within the clinic. Outdoor dog runs and more spacious
accommodations are a few other perks that the animal residents enjoy.
