In May 2017, Granger Construction began providing Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) services for the Kent County Juvenile Detention Center Expansion and Renovation project in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

This project was Kent County’s first-ever experience using the IPD project delivery method, which included the use of design-assist contractors for 5 key trades. This was also the first-ever IPD corrections project in the state of Michigan.

Granger Construction managed the North Lake Correctional Facility project for Florida-based GEO Group, Inc (formerly called Wackenhut Corrections Corporation. This was a 369,782 SF expansion of the former Michigan Youth Correctional Facility (which Granger also built for GEO Group).

Our team completed this project in two phases. Both phases were design-build arrangements, with Granger providing a negotiated lump sum cost for the design and construction and managing the work (at our risk) within the construction funds authorized.
