The Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort is a seven-story, premier AAA Four Diamond gaming and hospitality destination in Mount Pleasant, Michigan. Owned and operated by The Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe of Michigan, it is one of the top 50 casino-resorts in the United States, according to TripAdvisor reviews, and offers top-name entertainment, award-winning dining, high-stakes bingo and a full-service spa.

This project was the first major renovation of the 516 room resort since the facility opened in 1998.

Project Scope

The project team parsed work into three-phases, and the luxury resort remained operational throughout. Despite navigating numerous challenges and delays, the team reached substantial completion approximately 7 months ahead of the initial 26-month GMP schedule.

  1. Phase 1 involved demolition and reconstruction of 189 rooms on levels two through seven. Work also included new mechanical, electrical and plumbing infrastructure.
  2. Phase 2 included renovating 121 guestrooms on levels two through five, as well as conference and fitness rooms. By implementing lessons learned from phase 1, the team improved flow, sequencing, and quality for phase 2. They completed this phase ahead of schedule.
  3. Phase 3 included renovations to the spa and pool, along with 206 guestrooms. By implementing lessons learned in previous phases, the team completed phase 3 ahead of schedule.
