Congratulations to Mike Kissane on two major milestones – his retirement and his 30 years of dedicated service to Granger Construction. For three decades, Mike has been a cornerstone of Granger’s success, particularly in the healthcare market where his leadership and vision helped shape Granger’s reputation for operational excellence.
From the very beginning, Mike understood that success in highly sensitive healthcare spaces depended on flawless execution and strategic communication, and his results speak volumes. He never led a project or client relationship that didn’t evolve into repeat work, and often negotiated projects and long-term partnerships.

“When the work was intricate and the stakes were high, Mike always provided a steady hand,” said Granger CEO Glenn Granger. “His ability to build trust and consistently deliver complex projects made him a true ambassador of Granger’s culture.”
Mike exemplified what it means to be a builder. He wasn’t afraid to roll up his sleeves and get into the work, whether that meant off-shift shutdowns or weekend assignments. His work ethic and commitment to project success were unmatched, and his presence on the jobsite inspired confidence in everyone around him.
With his calm, competent, and patient demeanor, Mike was a natural teacher and mentor. He devoted his time, energy, and expertise to mentoring others and ensuring every project met the highest standards.
For over 20 years, Mike served as a trusted advisor to U-M Sparrow Health System, along with others like Trinity Health and McLaren Greater Lansing, always representing Granger with integrity and professionalism. Mike had an incredible ability to read a room, communicate effectively, and solve problems creatively, always with a non-confrontational approach that turned challenges into opportunities.

Mike also knew the value of relationships. Whether “breaking bread” with clients or sharing a laugh with teammates, he brought people together and made work enjoyable. His sense of humor, including some of his legendary stories, will be remembered fondly by all who worked with him.
Mike’s influence goes far beyond projects. He shaped careers and created traditions. One of Mike’s legacies is the annual Granger-Sparrow Golf Outing, which will continue long after his retirement.
Mike, thank you for your exemplary 30 years of service, your leadership and the countless ways you’ve made Granger stronger. We wish you all the best in this next chapter!
