For almost 20 years, Brad Hesche has been raising the bar at Granger Construction, leading with passion, purpose and a commitment to excellence.

In 2002, Brad was excited to get his first big break in the industry, securing an internship with Granger on campus at Ferris State University. His first project was what is now called the Granger Center for Construction and HVACR building on campus.
Fast forward to 2025, and Brad is celebrating 20 years with Granger, performing in roles including intern, project engineer, project manager, senior project manager, project director, regional director – and now regional vice president of West Michigan.
“It’s really been one foot in front of the other since I started as an intern,” Brad shared. “I was fortunate to work with a variety of mentors during my career path who let me grow and lead in various ways. I’m certain that those mentors, projects and experiences opened opportunities along the way for me,” said Brad.
On top of all his responsibilities, Brad also leads Granger’s Healthcare market segment, a sector he appreciates for both its complexity and purpose. Despite the significant number of projects under his belt, Brad knew exactly what his favorite project has been:

“Hurley Medical Center is number one, hands down,” Brad said. “It was my first solo project manager role. It was an IPD delivery in downtown Flint, and it was a tremendously overdue need at that time. But all the healthcare projects hold a special spot, and of course building anything on campus at Ferris State is a special treat, being my alma mater.”
While it might sound obvious, building is what truly fuels Brad’s fire. “When I started, it was about building cool stuff. Then, it became building plans and strategies to execute work. Next, building markets and clients. And now, it’s about building people and teams,” he explained.

Today, Brad has transitioned from being led to being the leader. “As a young professional it always feels great to ‘take over’ something – a project, a client or a responsibility,” Brad reflected. “Now I get a bigger kick out of when one of my younger teammates elbows me aside and says, ‘I got it,’ then absolutely crushes it. Those moments are always pretty special.”
Brad’s 20 years have been characterized by a strong commitment to his core values and a remarkable ability to adapt his leadership style to meet the needs of any situation. Empowered to lead authentically, Brad continues to drive impact with confidence and purpose.
Congratulations, Brad, and thank you for your years of service and commitment to the Granger Way.
