For three decades, Cheryl Couchenour has been a driving force behind Granger Construction’s success – shaping our accounting operations, elevating our projects, and embodying the values that define who we are. Today, we celebrate her 30-year milestone and honor her extraordinary contributions.
Cheryl began her journey with Granger in 1995 leading the Accounts Payable function, where her expertise and leadership set the standard for excellence. After skillfully training her successor, Cheryl transitioned into project accounting – first as a Project Accountant and now as Senior Project Accountant – where she has elevated hundreds of projects and continues to deliver exceptional value to project teams across the company.
Over the course of her tenure, Granger has tripled in size, yet Cheryl and her colleagues have supported this growth with only minimal increases in staff – a testament to their efficiency, adaptability, and shared dedication. Cheryl’s leadership and positive influence have been central to that success.
“Cheryl’s positive attitude and willingness to support our project teams have made her a trusted partner across the company and with our clients,” said Chris Duprey, Executive Vice President and CFO at Granger. “She always finds a way to get things done, and her can-do spirit inspires everyone around her.”

Today, Cheryl is making Granger history as the first project accountant to work directly at a jobsite. She currently manages the accounting for Granger’s largest project to date – the $1.2 billion Westville Correctional Facility in Indiana.
“Cheryl has been able to streamline the billing process for a $30M+ monthly average of billing to ensure that from submission through review and approval to payment is generally under 30 days,” said Keith Ivkovich, Project Director for the Westville project. “That is a monumental lift considering we have over 175 subcontracts and 600 plus tradespeople onsite every day. Without Cheryl overseeing and managing this process, we wouldn’t be able to keep our contractors paid in a timely fashion and keep progress moving. Cheryl is truly the wizard behind the curtain for the Westville team.”
We are honored Cheryl has chosen to spend her career at Granger, and we are grateful for the profound impact her work has had on our teams, our projects, and the growth of the company.
