Kulbacki, JoanneMarch 8, 2024 | Project Director Joanne Kulbacki began working in the construction industry in 1999 and joined Granger Construction in 2012 as a Project Manager.  While excelling in a field where women remain a minority in the workforce, one of the biggest impacts Joanne makes is showing other women that construction is a field where anyone can succeed. She is a willing and eager mentor to young professionals on her projects, with the goal of helping to move them into more advanced roles within the organization. During her career, Joanne has had a tremendous impact on the people she works with and the industry as a whole.

Data Center Expertise

Joanne has especially made a mark on the Data Center construction market. When she joined Granger, she was assigned to an Enterprise Data Center project in Warren where she made an immediate impact. Joanne’s exceptional leadership led to the successful delivery of the mission critical facility on budget, within a very aggressive eight-month schedule and achieved LEED Gold certification. Her impressive performance in seamlessly implementing detailed work management practices, orchestrating nearly 1,000 individuals and adhering to strict quality control measures resulted in high praises from clients and partners alike.

The success of Joanne’s first two projects with Granger captured the attention of 7×24 Exchange Magazine, a national publication that caters to those who design, build, operate and maintain information infrastructures and mission critical facilities. Joanne and her team were invited to present on a panel at the 2014 spring conference they hosted in Boca Raton, FL where she was an opening presenter and explained various aspects of the two projects, shared best practices and answered questions from others in the industry.

Joanne’s team made history in 2019 as their design-build data center project for a Confidential Fortune 500 Company became the first in the state of Michigan to receive Uptime Institute’s Tier III Certification for both design and constructed facilities, surpassing the International Fortune 500 client’s expectations for the project.

Joanne’s subject matter expertise regarding data center construction has helped develop best practices that have become standard procedures at Granger Construction and advanced the art of building. Her leadership on the job inspires many others around her to consider construction as a rewarding career and to strive for excellence in everything they do.
