Every successful project benefits from someone who brings clarity, consistency and an eye for detail that keeps work moving smoothly. For Lexi Brown, that commitment defines her role as a Project Engineer at Granger Construction. Known for her organization and steady presence on any jobsite, Lexi has quickly become a trusted contributor on her project team.

Lexi’s days shift with the rhythm of each project, but her core responsibilities remain centered on coordination and control. She begins most mornings in Procore, reviewing submittals and documents, creating and distributing RFIs, verifying received materials and documenting daily progress with photos. She also prepares meeting agendas and minutes, manages safety paperwork and conducts regular Openspace walks to ensure accurate field records.
Collaboration plays a central role in every project phase, and Lexi’s communication shifts depending on what the schedule demands. On any given day, she is working closely with trade project managers, the A/E team and her internal teammates, adjusting her interactions to the stage of construction and the issues at hand.
During her time on projects in the healthcare and higher education markets, she has learned how to effectively communicate with every person on the project, regardless of the request. Lexi has earned praise from teammates and supervisors alike for her instinctive ability to step in wherever support is needed, consistently going above and beyond to ensure no detail is overlooked.

“My brain is wired for details and checklists which allows me to be an ‘all-around player.’ While I have specific responsibilities, I also step in wherever the team needs support. This role lets me leverage my strengths to bring designs to life. A successful project requires a lot of moving parts to come together, and even though I’m usually behind the scenes, I take pride in filling the gaps with the small, crucial details that make everything work.”
For Lexi, success extends beyond timelines and budgets. She measures progress by the morale and mindset of the team. “Advocating fairly and maintaining a respectful environment helps minimize negative energy that can quickly impact the entire project.”
This is a philosophy shaped by her own path into construction, a journey rooted in family and shaped by hands‑on experience. Lexi’s dad, an ironworker, first sparked her interest in welding. A high school teacher later encouraged her to take a construction class, and the experience of building a house changed the direction of her future.
She later connected with a Ferris State University student who guided her toward FSU’s Construction Management program. While attending Ferris, Lexi worked for a local residential builder, gaining invaluable real-world construction experience. During her final summer at FSU, she interned with Granger—and by the time she graduated in December 2022, she had a full-time offer of employment.
Looking back at her career so far, one milestone stands out: being recognized as one of Granger’s Project Engineers of the Year. Just three years into her career at Granger, she has championed projects such as the MyMichigan Health Clare facility and a wide variety of projects at CMU, earning the respect and trust of those around her.
Choosing Granger felt like a natural fit for Lexi after her internship. The balance of support and growth opportunities was exactly what she was looking for. “I never wanted a traditional corporate path. Granger felt right—a place to grow, contribute, and build a long‑term career.”
Today, Lexi’s biggest motivators are her two young sons, a two‑year‑old and a six‑month‑old who inspire her to push forward with purpose. “My career journey started long before I stepped onto a construction site, but the path I’ve chosen at Granger is a result of much bigger things. I want my boys to grow up knowing what got me here and to see the dedication and hard work that helped me build this career.”
